Description
BOOK DESCRIPTIONThis volume is an overview of Sarmatian finds previously only published in Soviet/Russian journals and monographs. The author also includes other written sources and discusses the links between them and the work is an advance of the difficult question of looking for ethnical characteristics in the assemblages. The many cemeteries and weapon-burial sites from the Urals, Volga estuary and central Asia, are reviewed and aspects of chronology investigated. The result is a pioneering study of use to scholars in the fields of ancient history, classics, and prehistoric archaeology who were unable to access the material when originally published.
